edublogs is a blogging website for education. This site lets you easily create and manage student and teacher blogs, quickly customize designs and include videos, photos and podcasts. On this site, the teacher can create a class and keep total control over student posts and comments. Mobile apps for iOS and Android are available.

edublogs has extensive content filters and tools in place to keep the blogs student friendly. Teachers can choose to have the blogs fully open, block search engines, or have them password protected.

Constraints of edublogs

  • Free, but like most sites can be upgraded for a fee so you’ll lose some features unless you’re willing to pay.
  • Cannot create a class unless you upgrade to pro version
  • Cannot manage student blogs unless you upgrade to the pro version
  • You must also upgrade to the pro version to create a forum


How To Use edublogs

  1. Create and account using only lowercase letters and numbers
  2. Be sure to write down your information
  3. Change your avatar to reflect you
  4. Update your profile
  5. Change the appearance of your blog by clicking on Appearance (left-hand side) and update what you want.
  6. To create a post
    • Click on Posts (located on left-hand side)
    • Click Add New
    • Type in your post and decide if you want to save it as a draft or publish it immediately
    • Choose the format
    • If you use categories, choose a category or create a new one
  7. Easy way to get to admin screen to edit is to log onto edublogs.org and the log in
